What’s Zydeco?
It’s the happiest music on this planet. Its roots are in Louisiana and it is a very simple 8-beat dance step. Zydeco music makes you want to move, as the music’s rhythm is so upbeat and energizing.
Zydeco is a popular and exciting dance music that overlays a rhythmic fast Blues sound with traditional Cajun folk music. This spicy musical gumbo combines the traditional sounds of the button accordion and washboard with a driving, syncopated beat. This is exciting dance music that forces you to your feet in seconds.
Imagine the exuberant sounds of the steamy bayous of southwestern Louisiana right here in this city. Dance instruction is led by the talented local teachers who for years have taught this fun dance form in the Boston area.
What sets Zydeco apart from other dance forms? Laid back and fun, the dancing style reflects the people from Southwest Louisiana — relaxed, gregarious, and fun-loving. Once hooked - you’ll never go back!
